Basic actions in blackjack

In traditional blackjack, The player is presented with a limited number of choices of play. The player can take five unique actions: hit, stay, surrender, double down, and splitting a pair. Getting hit is getting an additional card from the dealer. When a player chooses to stay it means they do not want any additional cards from the dealer. In many casinos, a player can surrender after the dealer has checked for blackjack by sacrificing half of his current bet for choosing not to play the hand. A player doubles down after he is dealt his first two cards and doubles his bet while only being allowed one additional card from the dealer. A player can also choose to split a pair. For example, if the player has two fives he can split the hand by putting out another bet so that each card represents a hand and is dealt two new cards and plays each hand separately.
